What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Every 3 years we take a class to learn the latest in construction codes and OSHA standards which keeps our builders license current. Every 5 years we take a class to update us on current EPA regulations. Every 3 years we take a class to recertify us on lead paint abatement to keep our lead supervisor certification. We also attend several seminars a year to keep us up on the latest products and proper installation techniques.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I helped my parents build their house when I was 17. I've been in construction ever since.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Have your contractor provide proof that they are licensed, insured and EPA certified to work lead paint safe. Get references from customers they have done work for.
