I had a somewhat out-of-the-normal custody case. I was being withheld my son for reasons that were also very abnormal. I did a lot of searching for the right attorney as being a male who has not been given the opportunity of being with my son during his first year the cards would be highly stacked against me. On top of that my ex had a family member as her attorney. At the time it became necessary for me to file the case, it was not the best time to pay for it. Mr. Kijewski was completely understanding and worked with me on costs and payments from the beginning to the extra motions required to get this case to a judgment. This case had, and I believe Mr. Kijewski will agree many different circumstances from a normal case. As in all cases of this nature, it was very emotional, but especially to me because this was my only son and he was being withheld from me. Mr. Kijewski handled everything with extreme professionalism and always did what he could to reassure me everything would work out in the end. I would say if, but in this case, when the next matter arises, I will continue to hire Mr. Kijewski to represent me on whatever is needed. I spent long-time interviewing attorneys due to the specific circumstances of my case. After my first call with Mr. Kijewski, I hired him and I would (and have) recommend him to friends and family and know they are in good hands. I will save you time if you are searching by price, every attorney I called that centered the content all around their cheap fees, don't even call. Those were the first to be taken off the list. I could not have asked for a more supportive, thorough and professional experience during a very difficult separation and divorce . If you are searching for a family law attorney, you are undoubtedly in the midst of choices you never prepared for or thought you would have to make.
They don’t ask for a big retainer or down payment up front unlike other lawyers in Detroit ($5,000+!!). Fees are very reasonable and I liked the payment plans available - helped me to get started without paying a lot of money.
From my experience from initial phone call through the literal final day in court, I felt well taken care of and I was confident the best interest of my children was always at the forefront of the case. I am eternally grateful for not only the legal expertise, but the care of my family.
