We're an older couple who adopted an overly-exuberant young dog, and although we've owned dogs forever, quickly realized we were in over our heads with this cat-chasing, counter-surfing, ankle-biting bundle of energy! I've known Ms. Bailey for many years, and mentioned that I needed help. She immediately agreed to take Loki on and we quickly made arrangements. We initially left him with her for 10 days, although it should have been longer, but my husband wanted him back home. Within that short period of time, she had Loki on a schedule that included learning, play, and rest. She had him walking nicely on a leash, sitting when told, coming when called (mostly) and starting to do some agility work to burn off that uber energy. While he was gone, we fenced in a large run in our back yard, and set up some beginning agility obstacles for him to work with. After bringing him home, we kept up with her rules and took him to a beginning obedience class, which he passed, but barely. His main problem was staying when put on either a sit or down. We started intermediate work with him, but as we were leaving soon on an extended trip, it wasn't having much effect and there wasn't time to confirm him in anything. Our daughters (bless them!) decided to pay for Loki to return to Ms. Bailey for the almost 3 weeks we were going to be gone. A totally different dog came home that time! He is focused on his handler and comes when called without delay, no matter what he's doing. Example - on the way to the barn one night, there were deer in our side yard. Loke took off at a bound toward them - one call of his name and my husband was able to bring Loki right back to him. I have had similar experiences with the mail carrier and rabbits. He can be anywhere on our property with us and we are sure he will come when called. Ms. Bailey's methods are kind but firm. She knows how to bring out the desired behavior without harsh punitive methods toward the undesired. Plus, her own, very well trained dogs serve as "mentors" and examples to the Boot Camp student as to what is expected and acceptable. Oh, and another advantage - she blogs your dog's progress daily with pictures and videos so you can follow his progress! If it wasn't for Ms. Bailey's Boot Camp, I am sure we would have given Loki up for rehoming.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Training is $50 per session. Puppy boot camp (in my home) is $60 per day which includes board. It does not include food or extra toys or equipment (such as Kong or flat buckle collar). If you have questions hit me up on Facebook!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to get some idea of what is happening with the dog and one of the first things I want to know is the breed or mix. So many behaviors (and needs) are breed-related. The lifestyle of the owner is really important too -- many issues can be resolved just through more aerobic exercise. If the problem seems like a simple fix (such as food aggression) I will troubleshoot it with you and save you the expense. I'm not on this site much so if you have questions feel free to hit me up on Facebook!
