Introduction: ***IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: I am located in the Metro Detroit Area. I teach in my home studio in Clinton Township Michigan and online through Skype. I have a good setup with a camera to teach online lessons.
I have been playing 30+ years. I started working professionally at the age of 17, playing in the local clubs/bars, teaching students and recording in the studio.
For students that come directly to my studio for lessons, I have 2 Drum Kits where I can sit side by side and play with my students while teaching. With Online lessons will need a laptop/tablet with a camera and a download of Skype to connect online. Contact me if you would like more info on this.
I have taught over 500 students of all ages to date. Some students have never played drums while others have been playing but want to gain more skills and/or learn to read music.
I teach snare drum and drum set technique working with reading note structure, rudimental technique and learning ear technique including learning to play with your favorite songs.
I work with all my students with drum books, teaching them to read drum sheet music and playing with music for learning ear technique. I work with each student with a mixture of techniques that will help motivate them to excel and learn. Each student is typically at a different skill levels. Some are beginners, while some have been playing and have learned some drum technique. I work with students to improve their skill at whatever level or skill they are at. Students also have different interests, so one style teaching does not typically work for every student.
I enjoy teaching beginning to advanced level students. I strive to do so in a way that makes each student feel unique, special and valued while encouraging them to learn. Motivating a student is something I feel is very important to help them to strive to be the best they can be.
I love being able to see my student develop drumming skills teaching them many of the drum technique I have learned over the years.
