Contacted him NOVEMBER 2015 to set up a brick paver for spring 2016. 5+ months in advance to make sure the job would be planned and ready to go. He was initially great. He seemed like a nice, down to earth, and trustworthy guy. He gave me a quote and we brushed through some of the details and everything sounded great. I had 100% confidence he was going to come out and do a great job and was looking forward to paying him. Well... Spring came around and he started getting flaky. Couldn't get him to return my phone calls or emails for weeks (this became a repeated issue). I eventually got ahold of him one last time and he apologized, explaining how busy he was. I'm a pretty easy going guy so I was cool with that and understood. I used to do landscaping myself for another local company and know how slammed they get in spring... So whatever, no big deal. However, I don't think it's an excuse to not use 30 seconds of your day to return a call or email. Regardless, people get caught up. Anyways, He told me he would FOR SURE call me later that day or the next morning and get the job rolling. Well just like his earlier promises ... That fell through. I tried calling again then gave him a couple more days for a grace period (again) then I tried calling multiple times. Never got ahold of me and wouldn't return a phone call or email. I even specifically asked previously if he wanted my contact info again in case he lost it and he said no, he has all my info. So in summary, seemed like a great guy but is a Terrible businessman. I don't care how busy you get... If you commit to a job months in advance, don't just leave your customer hanging. If you decide you can't or don't want to do the job, be a responsible adult and simply let the customer know so they should find someone else. Simple responsibility and management 101 that you teach a 16 year old... Not an adult trying to run a business. I can't comment on his work but nothing bothers me more than someone who doesn't keep their word and can't communicate. It's not acceptable in my line of work and I don't think it should be in any line of work.
