FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every first lesson is free in order to give you a chance to find out if I'm the right fit for your teaching style. That introductory lesson is always 30 minutes, no matter if you are interested in eventually scheduling regular 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons. After our first lesson, we'll go over payment options and lesson policies. I prefer being paid on Venmo, PayPal, or CashApp, but I am open to discuss other options.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After we set up a time to meet for a free 30-minute introductory lesson, we'll go over policies and find a weekly time to meet that works for both our schedules. Students outside of the Detroit, MI area are invited to take lessons online. I have had enormous success ever since I began teaching online in 2020, and am very impressed with how much progress my students have made despite the less-that-ideal circumstances. I prefer Zoom, but let me know if you would prefer to use another video chat service.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I owe much of my teaching ability to my many role models at the Ann Arbor Music Center (Rock Band School), as well as my expert instruction as part of the award-winning Community High School jazz combo program. I successfully auditioned for and completed a year studying jazz guitar at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where I played in several university ensembles and enrolled in weekly lessons with an expert practitioner of jazz guitar. I also performed in the pit band for IU Theater's production of Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as performing with the nationally-traveled IU Soul Revue. I decided to complete my education with a degree in history despite being accepted into the prestigious music school. I have never regret the decision, and have a busy musical life to show for it :) I currently tour around the U.S. supporting premier country singer-songwriter talent with the Rachel Brooke Band. I am recording demos for a solo project and am involved in many local projects and bands.
