Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Dear Prospective Client, The Rhythm Section Jazz Band is an extremely versatile jazz orchestra. From classic jazz to pop-rock, our song selection consists of over 6,500 tunes from the Paul Sherwood arrangement library. We have worked very hard to put together 'books' of different styles of music to give our clients more choices. We can choose our favorite songs to best fit your event, or you can help us choose your favorites. 1. Swing is our specialty. 2. But, if we pull out the 'pop rock book', then get ready to rock, because we play over 150 songs from the 1960's, 70's, and 80's. 3. If dance is your thing, then let us bounce, jump, fox trot, mambo, rhumba, tango, conga, cha-cha, samba, stomp, swing, and waltz your group to nirvana. The Rhythm Section Jazz Band core is a 10-piece 'Little Big Band' and consists of 1st sax alto/clarinet, 2nd sax tenor/clarinet, 3rd sax alto/soprano, trombone, trumpet, piano, guitar, bass, drums, and vocalist. If you prefer, we also play as a full, big band with 5 saxes, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets, and full-rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass, and drums). Or, we break down to any smaller size combo if space or budget are tight. Our pianist is available to play earlier for cocktails and dinner or the whole night if that's all you need. We also perform as a post bop quartet with saxophone, piano, bass, and drums. Add a vocalist? If you need a studio band, recording sessions are our bread and butter. We can provide a pit orchestra for your next play, on or off Broadway. TRS has a commitment to excellence and professionalism that assures a successful outcome for your event's entertainment. Not only are the musicians top notch, but our crew sets up the band well in advance for the musicians' arrival. The PA equipment that we travel with is of the finest quality, and our people are the nicest in the industry. Thank you for looking, and we look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Paul Sherwood, band leader

The picture of the lovely bride and handsome groom in the military uniform is my son and new dughter-in-law at their wedding reception in the Union on the campus of Michigan State University five years ago. I can say without a doubt that the Rhythm Section Jazz Band was the best wedding band I have had the pleasure of hearing. Song choices were great, music great, wonderful personalities in the band. They really helped make that warm July day last in my memory. Five years and three babies later, you can still see some of their wedding pictures on Facebook. Thanks guys and gals.

We provide musical entertainment for your event. Weddings, holiday parties, cocktail receptions, fund raisers. The can be with a soloist, duo, trio, quartet, up to full swing band.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would advise someone looking for musical entertainment to consider the following: 1. Professionalism in; musicianship, dress and conduct. 2. Track record of reliability, on time arrival and set up before performance and consistent customer satisfaction. 3. Flexiblity, situations and customer needs vary from event to event and your performer must be willing to meet these needs. 4. Communication; the performer should be available to answer/return phone calls and respond promptly to emails. Customers will have questions and concerns that can be satisfied with adequate discussion. 5. Honesty, the performer should be honest with the client about their ability to meet customers expectations, which can sometime be unrealistic.
