Prior to hiring, David was prompt in his responses to my questions. After reading others reviews and experiencing his great responsiveness, we decided to hire Beene Concrete Construction. The scope of work was to remove a pile of concrete from our driveway that we had demolished. David committed to showing up between 3-330pm. He arrived when he said he would. Within 1.5 hours, all debris had been cleaned up and the area was even swept to remove all extra sand and dirt. I also saw him pick up smaller concrete chunks that had made their way to the grass. Our experience was exactly what David committed to and even beyond our expectations! Should a need arise in the future, I can see us hiring Beene Concrete Construction again.

I went on Thumbtack with the expectation that my driveway might not be started until possibly spring because winter is right around the corner. Reliable Concrete was not only flexible with coming out on my time for a quote, he beat other quotes (and the price i thought it would be!) And was out right away working on my driveway. There wasnt any hidden costs and the driveway looks amazing! The crew at Reliable Concrete was professional, fast and provided quality work. I have already passed their contact information onto some friends in the area and plan on calling them again for future work. If you want any concrete work done, this is definitely the company for the job!

We hired Cole Concrete to install a driveway, walkway and patio and couldn’t be happier. Dylan and his crew were great! Hard workers and very personable. We were also very impressed by their attention to detail. Our project turned out even better then we imagined and plan to have them back to replace our steps very soon.

Our custom marble walk in shower pan/liner was leaking. John thoroughly checked the shower to determine the problem and found the drain weep holes were plugged by the original installer who did not protect the weep holes from the concrete and grout, causing the water to back up inside the pan/liner. In addition, the bench had been installed incorrectly... tilted towards the wall instead of the floor causing water to sit and drain down into the areas of cracked grout. Instead of ripping the entire shower out (3 times the expense) as others had suggested, he found the problem and fixed it! Then he installed a beautiful new travertine tiled floor and corrected the bench tilt problem by installing new marble over it. John isn't kidding when he says "attention to detail" is important to him. I am so impressed with the quality of John's work and his ability to communicate what he is doing and why.I highly recommend John and look forward to hiring him for future projects we need a contractor for. Thank you, John!

Grand Rapids, Jenison and West Michigan concrete contractors at Nobel Concrete provides general and decorative concrete options for homeowners and commercial and industrial business owners. Concrete is no longer a gray slab of cement. Concrete products and services have evolved into many more areas other than driveways, roads and sidewalks. Nobel Concrete is a general concrete contractor as well as a specialty concrete company serving Grand Rapids and all of West Michigan areas. Below is a list of our concrete services and products: * Stamped Concrete * Acid-Stained Concrete * Colored and Decorative Concrete * Epoxy-Coated Concrete * Concrete Driveways * Concrete Patios * Aggregate Finishes * Walkways and Paths * Commercial Concrete * Residential Concrete * Concrete Countertops ~ Stamped Concrete - This process involves stamping or impressing a pattern into colored concrete with special stamping tools. When the stamping is complete, the surface is sealed, highlighting the colors and providing greater stain and weather resistance. The result is a strong, durable concrete surface with the beauty of natural stone or brick or other stamped concrete patterns. ~ Acid-Stained Concrete - Acid staining will transform any concrete slab into a colorful, unique surface with the look and feel of natural stone. Acid stain is a permanent treatment that reacts chemically with your concrete, creating stunning color variation and a surface that looks perfectly aged. Acid-stained concrete is an excellent choice for both interior and exterior surfaces. ~ Colored and Decorative Concrete - Today's homeowners, business owners, builders, and designers recognize the value in using decorative concrete in their designs, building and remodeling plans. Decorative concrete and colored concrete transforms the appearance and aesthetics of indoor and outdoor traditional gray concrete. ~ Epoxy-Coated Concrete - Epoxy coating uses 100% solids for sealing and protecting new or repaired surfaces. Epoxy is ideal for guarding against wear, chemical attack, corrosion, and abrasion. This epoxy-coated surface will cure to a smooth, seamless finish that is potentially stronger and more durable than the original substrate. ~ Concrete Driveways - There are typically two choices when deciding to repair or pave a driveway: concrete or asphalt. There are many reasons why concrete is the best choice, including durability, aesthetics, value, curb appeal, low maintenance, and more. Today, the "concrete" choice has expanded to include an astounding array of decorative options. Read more about concrete driveways here. ~ Concrete Patios - Concrete patios give you complete creative freedom to bring the style and elements of your indoor floors to your outside environment and backyard. With many options in styles and colors for your concrete patio, you can transform that old beat-up backyard into a luxurious extension of the house where you can relax, entertain and more! ~ Aggregate Finishes "Sandcast" - Aggregate finishes by Nobel Concrete is designed for outdoor applications where an alternate to a conventional concrete is desired. Integral color may be added to the mix in conjunction with decorative saw cuts to give the look of large tile. We can install traditional cuts in the slab or implement a diamond pattern as well. ~ Walkways and Paths - Whether it's a golf course, park path, neighborhood walkway, sidewalk, or your own private residence path, our Grand Rapids and West Michigan concrete company can help you create a concrete path or walkway that fits your needs. ~ Concrete Countertops - Choosing a countertop is no longer confined to the restrictions of standard colors, standard sizes, or limitations in shape and texture. Limited options with granite countertops, Corian countertops and other surface materials are of no concern when you design and build with concrete. We create concrete countertops by molding, shaping and coloring into beautiful and functional kitchen countertops. ~ Commercial Concrete - Our West Michigan and Grand Rapids commercial concrete products and services include all indoor and outdoor concrete-related needs. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
    • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
    • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
    • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
    • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
    • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

    What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time.
