Introduction: Instead of using "band aid" techniques I choose the more positive and more permanent options. No shock collars, I prefer not to use quick fix halters or harnesses. I see far too many dog trainers who approach situations with aggressive techniques and heavy hands and I don't want to be like that. I love working with animals, but I would say my favorite part of the job is the difference in the dog and the owner when I'm done working with them. The first day during the evaluation and meet and greet often the owner is overwhelmed and on his/her last resort. Through consistent effort and work we manage to make a difference in the dogs behavior and the relief I see on the owners face is wonderful. I love knowing I made a difference in that relationship and possibly saved the dog from ending up in a shelter or being rehomed far too many times.
