FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As I was leaving High school I thought about the kinds of careers out there, and what would enable me to use all of my skills and creativity, but also allow me to help people in a significant way, and do something worthy of the hours spent. I wanted to be able to live anywhere, and pick up or leave my career as children and life happened and still step back in to my field with minimum interruption and lag time. Jewelry allows you to do all these things and many more. No matter where I live, what my age there is always a job in my industry, always a way to make a good living. Besides, I knew the only way I or my poor husband would not go broke feeding my jewelry addiction was with me being a Master Goldsmith ;)
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Know who you are dealing with, ask questions and don't deal with anyone who wont answer or can't. Make sure that any Jeweler you work with has a Goldsmith on hand that YOU can talk to, that can explain to you what work NEEDS to be done and what work doesn't. Quantity is not the key, any one can buy stuff and fill a store, only Professionals KNOW what they are selling, know how it will wear and function for you and how best to get the value for your buck. You only want to trust your priceless jewelry to a professional who considers it priceless as well reguardless of its actual value, and treats both you and your jewelry items with care and consideration.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
That as the oldest profession, Jewelry has a long history of great and terrible men - and knowing who you are dealing with is the only way to do business!!! At Dood's Jewelry we look forward to seeing you in the grocery store, at the football game Friday night, because we KNOW we do everything with the utmost care, consideration and integrity.
