What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I do take occasional hands on training from top artists in the face and body industry. I also pay for online training courses from the best artists as well. I am constantly involved in face and body art groups and forums to keep up with trends, learn new skills, hear about the latest products and advances, and to be inspired by like minded artists!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing depends on the details of the event (services requested, distance from me, and more) I have recently simplified my hourly rates.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Customers often ask how I got started and the answer is I was looking for ways to raise money to fight cancer when my Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, as a part of a Relay for Life team. I have always loved art and been creative, and I also love working with kids. Face Paint seemed like a good idea, with a little research into finding safe and quality materials and methods... I found a whole world of the amazing face and body art industry, and I was hooked. Face Painting allowed me to do something to fight back against cancer, and so much more. My Mom has now been cancer free for years!!!!
What types of customers have you worked with?
Birthday parties are by far the most common kind of event I do, followed by school events, church events, and occasionally festivals.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Any time I make a client happy and that their money was well spent, I am extremely proud.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If you are hiring a face painter or thinking about using a volunteer, you want to make sure to see pictures of their work, as well as ask about what type of materials they use. At Mystical Rainbow Creations, only FDA Approved Cosmetic Grade face paints and glitters are used, safe for skin!
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
There is SO much research, practice, and behind the scenes work that goes into this art form. The materials are NOT cheap and much of my time is spent researching and doing paperwork on the computer. Drive time, mileage, setting up and cleaning time, consulting via email/phone and working back and forth with customers to make sure I am giving them what they want/need and more....all of these things and more are considered in my careful setting of rates, while trying to keep them affordable and realistic for today's families.
