- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I would like each potential student to have a 30 minute trial lesson for $15. We need to get to know each other. I need to see how you learn, and you need to see how I teach.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors's and Master's degrees in flute performance. I attended Interlochen Arts Academy my senior year of high school, Peabody and University of Wisconsin-Madison for my bachelor's and East Carolina University for my Master's degree. Performed with orchestras in North Carolina. Primary teachers include Clement Barone (DSO), Ervin Monroe (DSO), Britton Johnson (Baltimore Symphony and Peabody), Tim Day (San Francisco Sym), Jeff Zook (DSO), Jackie Hofto (Interlochen Arts Academy), Mary Scudder (Toledo Sym). I was taught by some of the greatest flute teachers and want to carry on the traditions of the masters. When things are correct from the start, there is no correcting bad habits down the line. I bring this expertise to my teaching but with a gentler approach than some of my teachers. Students should feel supported. If something does not work one way, I can always figure out another way and maintain the proper result. I continue to learn myself. I attend masterclasses and take an occasional lesson from a respected teacher. I keep my playing at a high level to better demonstrate what I am teaching. If want want a thorough, creative, fun teacher to quickly improve your flute playing, I am the teacher for you.
