FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Clients can either use insurance or private pay. Private pay is $130 for a clinical one-hour (50 min) session. Insurance companies set their own rate for counseling and each insurance rate is different. Insurances I can take are: Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Blue Care Network (BCN) Beacon ComPsych If you're using insurance you may have a copay ranging from $0-40 per session. If you haven't met your insurance deductible you would be billed the insurance rate until the deductible was met.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Several things occur in the very first session: basic introductions between the client and myself, the client sharing their concern, and my feedback to them regarding my intended therapeutic process towards helping them meet their goals for therapy. Most clients experience at least a little anxiety about the initial process so I always try to make them feel comfortable by keeping the interaction less clinical and more relaxed and casual. It basically feels like a conversation.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended Grand Valley State University for my undergrad and received my MA in Counseling at Ashland Theological Seminary. In my internships I served as a group facilitator for Domestic Violence offenders at Dominion Family Services. I also developed an anger management group program for Life Challenge in Detroit. I have been trained in the PREPARE/ENRICH marital and premarital inventories and also have training in social anxiety, anger management and domestic violence. I also have more than 20 years experience as a pastoral counselor within the church setting.
