Introduction: I make custom fashions for all. I have a fashion design degree from Pratt Institute and have been working in fashion since 2005. I specialize in plus-size and evening wear but have made everything, from custom bras to wedding gowns and bridesmaid apparel. I have experience in sewing custom upholstery covers, utilitarian products and stuffed animals. Basically, you name it, and I can make it! And I can also teach you how to make your own. I also make custom jewelry with chain maille, bead, stone, wire wrapping, etc. I am an artist. I create from life illustrations as well as just geometric/pattern illustrations. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Generally speaking I charge $10 a seam. So if you need a simple pant hem, $10. You need a dress taken in on both side seams $20. When it comes to custom garments it's a lil more tricky to have base pricing. Simple garments like knit dresses or skirts start as low as $30+ materials but depending on complexity and details wanted can range to as high as $300
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to find out what exactly your looking for. Sewing jobs can be as simple as a pant hem or bag repair to as elaborate add a fully hand beaded customs wedding gown and veil. Every customer is looking for something different and once I know what you need, it can be done.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in fashion design and have been sewing professionally for over 10 years. There is nothing in the fabric/sewing world that I can't make.
