I called Greg at REST to help me with a mold and smoke damage problem I had at my house. From beginning to end, he handled the job in a prompt and professional manner. He knew exactly how to fix my problems and orchestrated the job so that it would be done right. Because of him, I received the necessary clearances that allowed me to sell the house at a later date. I highly recommend the expertise and service you get from REST.May 11, 2016
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?During college I worked in environmental capacities in some form. I graduated from Ferris In 1993, I have conducted various air testing for mold, bacteria and chemicals in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. In addition, to scoping work and developing advanced reports I have overseen asbestos, water, sewage, storm and fire damage restoration projects most of my career (27 years of work in environmental field). My formal education encompasses a Bachelors of Science of Industrial and Environmental Health and Master Degree in Business. I have attended in excess of 60 technical courses or seminars regarding environmental issues. I personally hold NIOSH 7400/580, four State of Michigan asbestos accreditations being inspector, supervisor, management planner and project designer. I also have the EPA Lead Renovator and the State of Michigan Department of Health Lead Assessor and Lead Inspector Licenses. REST is licensed by the State of Michigan as an Asbestos Contractor and a Residential Builder. REST is an EPA Lead Safe Certified Firm. We are not State Licensed for mold because there is no such license, but our licenses lend their credentials to our professionalism.
- What types of customers have you worked with?We have a lot of customers that call that have reoccurring colds or allergies, and it is really their house making them sick. We do a lot of mold testing, and a lot of asbestos abatement.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?During an appointment my objective is to fully evaluate the situation in a fashion that will lead the homeowner into closure for their situation without skipping any details or exposing other potential negative outcomes. At times my recommendations may seem excessive, but they are based on experience. Different clients have different expectations, but our expectation is quality air. Its my opinion that my clients have a true problem and they want a professional outcome. Thats why they called! When sampling, we use the best techniques and equipment available. We use qualified laboratories that hold certifications for their work. We can discuss all the positive and negatives of each type of test before we conduct testing. If youre not sure what to do, we can come back after you thought about our discussion. Using REST for sampling is your best option in the industry. Once your results come in, they are emailed to you. If your samples pass, then its just a simple email saying they passed. If they fail, we will set up a half hour phone conference to discuss the results and next steps. We offer technical report development, abatement contracting, and long term management solutions to improve indoor air quality. Mold abatement is an unregulated field. Our workmanship is conducted similar to asbestos abatements. Our professional staff uses the best available technology and practices to abatement mold problems and reduce potential to further spread the problems. Its not in our nature to propose a short cut method, and often times, we dedicate extra equipment or employ extra steps not bided to complete a project. Some people may have some limitations regarding their situation, but once we give you a proposal that is designed to be the opening for further discussion we are here to guide our clients to problem resolution. If you want to shorten the job scope that is fine, but lets discuss your proposals and come to an agreement before you hire our competitor. When we conduct asbestos projects, we conduct the work according to regulations. It is important for us to do a job the right way. Who needs to have an asbestos risk in their home made even larger during attempt to get rid of an already dangerous situation? Due to the nature of the environmental field, not all situations can be perfectly solved, but solutions can be made to make things better if your problems cant be solved. In all of our abatement situations its our objective to turn your home back over to you in a better environmental condition then when we started! I look forward to working with you. If you have any questions please feel free to contact my staff.
