Beginning - intermediate Piano & Brass Lessons

Our work at Swank Music Studio stands from others because we have combined 30 years of classroom teaching K-12 music and 40 years of teaching private lessons. We have a keen understanding how young and adolescent brains learn as well as the importance of connecting learning to familiar concepts being taught at school. Our teaching perspective is holistic, with a goal of producing high level musicianship as well as preparing students for the many future opportunities in area band, orchestra, or choir programs. This includes beginners and those who played years ago and would like to get back into playing. The learning process and how the brain functions is the similar no matter the age. Our forte is helping adults learn how to practice, which is probably the most important skill to learn. Most often adults start weekly lessons to get into a good routine, then cut back to bi-weekly, or whenever we can fit it into their 'adulting' schedule. We love watching students grow musically and experience the feeling of playing through a song successfully for the first time, or finally figuring out a difficult part. We also love when a student gains confidence and grows as a musician.
