FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I can work by the hour, by the job or by the head. Whatever works best for the client.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first step in working with any new client is learning exactly what they need. For head shot customers that starts how many need photos and how quickly they need them done. Then whether they would like each person to pick out their favorite on the spot or wait and go through the proofs later. Next is do they want the shots just color, exposure and contrast balanced only or if they want the full professional retouching service. Lastly, what size and resolution would they like the finished photos to be. For architectural clients it is also what are the needs and how fast do they need the finished photos. It's usually best to work with someone at the site that can approve each shot as we go. Once we get to know each other, I'll be comfortable going out with a shot list.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After graduating from photo school, I have worked in various areas of professional photography for over 30 years. I have photographed I guess thousands of portraits and hundreds of spaces. I learned the processes on film back when you had to get it right in the camera with no Photoshop option. That required a solid understanding of the properties of light and how to control it. There are lots of software tools that can help produce superior images and I don't hesitate to use them but they are not to be a crutch for sloppy camera work.
