FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Honestly I kind of fell into it. I've always been a doodler in the margins of my notebooks at school, always was the kid who spent more time picking out the fonts for the cover page on his paper than actually writing the thing itself, and then in college I discovered Photoshop. Shortly thereafter I found out people actually paid guys like me to take all that eccentricity and channel it into design work making logos, flyers, websites and the like. It was off to design school about two months later and I've never looked back.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my experience is in print (page layout, packaging, business cards, etc) and brand identity design (logos, etc). I have done some limited work in web design as well, and very much enjoyed it. I plan on honing my web development skills sometime in the near future to make myself even more valuable to clients seeking website work.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It saves a lot of time and money on both ends if you have a good idea of what you want before you contact a designer. As much as we would like one, we don't have a magic wand that tells us what you want and how to make it happen. The most efficient and enjoyable business I've ever conducted was with clients who came to me with a solid idea and the willingness to let me flesh it out.
