- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most jobs are given a minimum-maximum written estimate. Some clients only have a fixed budget and stay within their limits. If job details are less defined or complicated, then work is done at an hourly rate of $60.00 per hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My typical creative process begins with communicating with you about your marketing and advertising goals, your personal likes and dislikes, deadline and budget. I often send draft via the internet in low resolution pdf or jpg format. this way you can show design options to others and we can begin synergistic process of refining design. The project may be perfect at first draft, but often design is improved by feedback as design evolves. I feel YOU must love the design and be happy with all elements—this is when I have succeeded in helping you succeed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Journalism from the University of Minnesota with an emphasis in Campaign Strategy, Design and Writing. I have owned and operated my design business, Alternative Designs since 1978. My father was a printer and I grew up in his shop. Grandfathers worked in publishing, so I have "ink in my veins" so to speak. I have also taught design part-time at Minneapolis Community Technical College for over twenty years—I enjoy sharing what I have learned and staying up-to-date with software and changing technologies.
