About
I have been in business for seven years and have loved every minute of it! I got my start photographing people when I was in high school, but officially opened my business my second year in college. Head shots, seniors, and family portraits was where I began, and five years ago I started doing weddings. Getting to know all the beautiful families and couples has been the single greatest joy of starting this business. Something that stands out about my photography business versus others is that instead of the photographer choosing all the edited photos for you from the session, you get to be the one to decide which photos are your favorite. From weddings to senior portraits, you get to keep all the original digital files from the day and then get to decide which should be edited and retouched. Most photographers decide for you, leaving many shots that you may have loved never to be seen by you and your family. You should have the final say, this way I am putting the power back into the client's hands. Meeting all the wonderful teens that I get to take senior portraits for, and being able to capture a special moment in time for them.

My fiancé and I decided to do an engagement shoot in MN where we got engaged. Kelsey was great to work with. I don't like taking pictures but she made it so fun and comfortable. I couldn't wait to see our pictures, which look amazing. She got them to us within two days, even though she was travelling for a wedding that weekend. If we didn't have a photographer for the wedding already I would seriously consider paying for her to drive to Chicago.

Kelsey was great to work with - she was flexible with our family's schedules and what we wanted out of the session. The shoot was fun and Kelsey is so personable that it made everything so easy. Photos turned out great!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Photography brings together my two loves- meeting people and attention to detail. Out from behind the lens you have to have great people skills to make it as a professional. Being able to meet beautiful teens everyday is such an enriching career. Behind the lens you need to love the nitty gritty editing process, the framing, the lighting, the posing. I love making all those separate parts come together to get the perfect photograph.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

We love to collaborate! You have a crazy idea to do a food fight for your family portraits? Yes! We love that! The more candid the better when it comes to photography. Don't be afraid to offer suggestions and think outside the box.
