Introduction: Charlie Alden graduated from William Mitchell College of Law to work for one of the 100 largest law firms in the United States. For 5 years, he worked on complex legal disputes, representing insurance companies, businesses, and business owners both locally and nationally. It was there that Charlie honed his skills, representing clients and appearing in court in business disputes from New York to California to Texas, and becoming the seasoned litigator that he is today.
Charlie started his own firm in 2013, and merged with Matthew Gilbert to form Gilbert Alden in 2015. At Gilbert Alden, he focuses on serving the legal needs of businesses and individuals. He sees cases from the perspective of someone who has both defended and initiated lawsuits. Charlie has recovered millions of dollars in settlements and judgments on behalf of individual and business clients. In 2014, Charlie negotiated a settlement on behalf of various Internet companies netting a settlement of more than $900,000. In employment law cases, Charlie has obtained multiple six-figure settlements on behalf of individuals who were unlawfully terminated by their employers. Charlie has provided successful representation to everyone from hourly and salaried workers, to CEOs and company founders in disputes with their own companies.
There are a lot of lawyers out there. Charlie sets himself apart by being responsive, available, hardworking, and insightful.
A graduate of Princeton University, Charlie grew up in Wisconsin, and currently lives in Saint Paul. He graduated with honors from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of a law journal and was on the Deans List and received other academic honors. He is admitted to practice in the Minnesota State and Federal Court, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Charlie has been named a Rising Star by Minnesota Law and Politics, a distinction that is awarded to less than 3% of the attorneys practicing in Minnesota, as voted on by his peers in recognition of his legal abilities.
