Ethan is an amazing talent. I have been taking bass guitar lessons from him for over a year, and am very happy with the progress I've made. He is extremely knowledgeable about music theory and composition, in addition to being a skilled musician and instructor. What I have appreciated most about Ethan is his ability to understand where I'm at ... and what knowledge and skills will help me make the most progress. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to move forward with their musical skills.Oct 24, 2019
I've taken lessons with Ethan for about two years now on guitar and piano. He is extremely knowledgable on all things playing, composing, song writing and theory related and helped me grow tremendously as a guitar player and musician in general. He is also very patient and works with his students to help them reach their music related goals. Ethan is great!Oct 22, 2019
Ethan's teaching approach fit my learning style very well during the time I studied finger-style and jazz guitar with him. He's very patient, and willing to try multiple lesson routes to help your experience be a great one! :)Jun 13, 2017Ethan Elseth's reply
Thank you so much Lisa! It was a pleasure working with you before you moved. Best of luck!
In addition to being a talented artist himself, this instructor is patient with students and tailors lesson plans to students and sets up individualized plans for students to practice between lessons. I highly recommend Ethan as your music instructor!Oct 24, 2019
RE: Composition lessons Ethan is easy going and knows how to relate to my son who is reserved. He inspires my son to do more and dive deeper and gives constructive criticism in a way that inspires the student. My son would not have been prepared to apply to college music programs if it had not been for Ethan's knowledge of all things music, and his ability to teach and share it with my son. Because Ethan is actually out in the world making a living in the music industry and comes from a classic music school background he has so much to offer an aspiring musician and composer. And, he is on time and dependable.Oct 30, 2019
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My pricing mainly depends on the subject, whether I travel to the client or they come to my home, and whether the client is an enrolled student paying for the lessons themselves (discount can be discussed).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to get right to work with the client, figuring out their exact needs, their expectations (if any), and analyzing their current level. I try very hard to make my work or teaching environment as welcoming as possible so that the client can feel comfortable, relaxed, and in the best mindset possible to accomplish whatever tasks are at hand. I like to get a clear understanding of what the client wants so that I can best plan my strategy to do great work with them.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I graduated magna cum laude from McNally Smith College of Music in Saint Paul with a bachelors degree in Guitar Performance and another in Instrumental Composition. I was also awarded scholarship throughout college. More importantly though, I have tons of professional experience in both performing, composing/arranging, and teaching.
