Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Greetings! My name is Ethan Elseth and I have been working as a professional musician, composer/arranger, and teacher for the past 9 years. I tour nationally and internationally as lead guitarist with Minneapolis's very own Har Mar Superstar and am an active composer/arranger specializing in music for media, film, and anything orchestral. I have an extensively wide range of experience and knowledge in my specialized areas; having done work for the MN Orchestra, the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra, written music of nearly every style for clientele, performed and toured in a multitude of different ensembles, and have taught students aged 5 to 75! I hold a bachelor's degree in Instrumental Composition and another in Guitar Performance from McNally Smith College of Music. I love passing down my knowledge and sharing my experiences with the eager student and seeing the "lightbulb going off" expression on my student's faces when something "clicks"! Let's work together today!

Guitar Lessons

Ethan replied right away to all my questions. He was easy to schedule some time with and was very accommodating. The first time he worked with my son went great! He sounded very knowledgeable and right away taught my son a few new things he didn't already know after a few years of lessons with someone else.

Ethan is an amazing talent. I have been taking bass guitar lessons from him for over a year, and am very happy with the progress I've made. He is extremely knowledgeable about music theory and composition, in addition to being a skilled musician and instructor. What I have appreciated most about Ethan is his ability to understand where I'm at ... and what knowledge and skills will help me make the most progress. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to move forward with their musical skills.

RE: Composition lessons Ethan is easy going and knows how to relate to my son who is reserved. He inspires my son to do more and dive deeper and gives constructive criticism in a way that inspires the student. My son would not have been prepared to apply to college music programs if it had not been for Ethan's knowledge of all things music, and his ability to teach and share it with my son. Because Ethan is actually out in the world making a living in the music industry and comes from a classic music school background he has so much to offer an aspiring musician and composer. And, he is on time and dependable.

In addition to being a talented artist himself, this instructor is patient with students and tailors lesson plans to students and sets up individualized plans for students to practice between lessons. I highly recommend Ethan as your music instructor!

My initial request was for piano lessons but it quickly morphed into composition, arranging, and recording using Logic Pro X. Ethan has pretty broad tastes in music and a lot of knowledge in areas I wouldn't normally be exposed to like classical music. He has both knowledge and experience arranging and composing and freely shares his knowledge. And he is easy and enjoyable to work with.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My pricing mainly depends on the subject, whether I travel to the client or they come to my home, and whether the client is an enrolled student paying for the lessons themselves (discount can be discussed).

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to get right to work with the client, figuring out their exact needs, their expectations (if any), and analyzing their current level. I try very hard to make my work or teaching environment as welcoming as possible so that the client can feel comfortable, relaxed, and in the best mindset possible to accomplish whatever tasks are at hand. I like to get a clear understanding of what the client wants so that I can best plan my strategy to do great work with them.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated magna cum laude from McNally Smith College of Music in Saint Paul with a bachelors degree in Guitar Performance and another in Instrumental Composition. I was also awarded scholarship throughout college. More importantly though, I have tons of professional experience in both performing, composing/arranging, and teaching.
