Theresa started training our whole family in Nov '14. Theresa's energy is amazing and contagious. She shows up on time with fresh workouts tailored to our fitness level- which is improving by leaps and bounds. She is able to motivate each of us and create a workout that fits all of our various needs. Most of us started at Ground Zero- I had never heard of a burpee! Now, my 12 year old daughter can plank for more than 6 minutes, my boys beat their own personal best records on push-ups and sit-ups regularly, and I've lost the jiggle in my upper arms. Theresa consistently moves us forward, pushing us just the right amount to keep us motivated without getting discouraged. She even emails my workouts for in-between sessions and sends me updates on our progress- inches lost/gained and weight tracking. It was a great decision for our family to hire a trainer to come to us and work with us as a family. It's a no-brainer, we know she is going to show up and we know we are going to work-out, no excuses. It has really worked out well for us. We have some 5-8# weights and some kettle balls, no need for expensive equipment or trips to the gym. I'm in better shape than I have been in for years.
Over the last few years I changed my life style. In 1 year and 8 months of inactivity, eating fried foods and copious beer curls I put on 40 pounds and spread from a size 4 jean and size 6 dress to a sad size 14. I was so out of shape, fat and flabby I did't know where to start. I reached out to Whitney to help me lose the 40 pounds, get back my toned physique and into my size 4 jeans and size 6 special dress. Whitney started me out at the perfect level where I wouldn't get injured or be so sore I couldn't do the next session. Within just one month (which included 9 sessions with Whitney) I lost 10 lbs, 11/2" off my waist, 1" off my hips, and 1/2" off my bat wing arms and my strength and balance have dramatically improved. Her workouts are fun and have a variety that keeps me motivated. I delayed my summer vacation 1 week to stay and work out with Whitney. I have also booked her for when I return to St. Louis until I leave for Florida. I'm feeling great and confident I will reach my goal as long as I stick with Whitney's training and expertise! My masseuse says she can see the definition coming back and I'm down one size. When I reach my goal I plan to stay with Whitney to keep it! Plus I'm loving the boxing workouts.
I returned back to the gym in February after disappearing from it for two year (work related injury, not an excuse however the truth). I ballooned to 263lbs, my health was declining, and I was on the brink of having to start a new wardrobe due to my size. I had to change my habits. I met with a bunch of personal trainers at different gyms and none really stood out. Yes it sounds like a fantasy but the last one I met was Joe. Joe had the personality that would push me to excel. I can't say it was one specific thing that stood out about Joe, however the gut feeling in combination with first impressions I had to go with it. Joe knew what he was talking about. He broke his plan and the process down to my level, a person who works out but didn't totally understand all intricate parts of what fitness, nutrition, and a healthy life style can accomplish. Over the next two months I would partake in two different meal plans and asix day a week work out regiment. Today I weighed in at 227lbs. Yes working out and wanting to change falls on each individual, however if it wasn't for Joe's background, knowledge, and expertise in nutrition, muscle development, and his passion to see his clients meet and exceed their goals I wouldn't have seen the results I have already. Joe developed workout and meal plans that met my ever changing 24hr on call schedule. He provided me multiple avenues to contact him if I had questions on a workout or need to develop a supplemental meal on the fly. Joe will push you to meet and surpass your goals. His knowledge and proven accomplishments can be seen everyday by the multiple people who he helped in changing their lifestyle and meeting their personal goals at at the gym.
I am like many other people out there who want to lose weight but are full of excuses. I kept seeing Facebook ads about Maryville Boxing Gym, but I didn't want to go by myself and couldn't convince any of my friends to go with me -everything is always easier with the buddy system right? After 3 months of putting it off, I swallowed my pride and walked through the doors... by myself. I was not in shape, I couldn't do more than 10 sit-ups without breaking a sweat, I couldn't do a push up to save my life... but I walked through the door. From that day on the only regret that I had was not starting 3 months sooner. At no point have I ever felt embarrassed because I couldn't do something like the more experienced members. Or felt like people were looking at me because I am doing a hit wrong. Everyone is there to encourage one another and have fun doing it! We are all truly a big family :) I will never forget one of my first weeks at the end of class some of the "regulars" were going to run a lap after class. I knew that I would not be able to run the full lap, nor would I be able to keep up with the group... but I decided to run too. As I started the lap one of the regulars slowed down her pace to run with me... the entire lap... encouraging me the entire time and sure enough I ran that entire lap!
I attended a bootcamp with Torched Fitness and it was awesome. I can honestly say I never imagined I would willingly get up at 6am to be at the gym for a 6:30am workout, but I did. Repeatedly. Jeremy is great at motivating people to reach their goals and creating a fun environment that doesn't make it seem like a monotonous exercise routine.
When I started working out with Tom, I had just quit a bootcamp where the instructor behaved more like a member of the military than a fitness coach. Tom was different, in a good way! He's funny, patient and switches up the workout enough to keep me interested. It's been over two years and I'm still sticking around!
This gym is incredible! No other way to put it. I've joined big gyms, I've done small gyms, I've done classes, and I've done P90x along with other Beachbody programs. CFR classes are difficult, but aren't so bad that you dread coming into the gym the next day. And the results speak for themselves. I lost 24 pounds in 6-weeks and I'm still going, determined to lose more weight. The trainers are top notch and you feel like you have a one-on-one personal trainer. Even in the classes you are getting personalized training with "correctives", which are specific to each person and help fix any movement/strength inefficiencies. I recommend this gym to anyone who is interested in truly experiencing results. As the title goes - Complete Fitness Results!
All the trainers here are super supportive and incredibly fun to be around. Every time I walk into DNA I know I'm going to have a awesome time. How many people can say that about their gym?! Plus, you get to work out with other clients in a team-like setting. So, there is always someone right by your side to keep you motivated. These trainers aren't just fit guys with training certifications, they're family. And when you join this gym you become a part of that family. me and one of a kind. Since I started training with Nate Oatis my strength has improved greatly. As a soon to be college football player he has really helped improve my form when lifting and pushed me out of my comfort zone to make myself better. The environment is great, everyone is so friendly. Nate gets to know his clients really well and knows the best way to get the most out of them. He makes workouts based off of what you need exactly never having generalized workouts. Working out here as been one of my best experiences as he has really helped prep me for sports at the collegiate level.
I have worked out religiously for the past 20 years and needed a change. In my search for gyms close to my work I found The Boxing Gym on Olive in St. Louis Missouri. I stopped in, took a boxing class and was hooked! It has almost been a year now and I still absolutely LOVE IT! The owner/instructor/personal trainer Jim Cordes as well as Bao, Erica and Logan have created an intimidation free environment and will help anyone achieve their fitness goals - I am living proof. I was a successful participate in The Gamechanger Program and have lost 45 lbs since joining. I could/would not have been successful if it wasn't for their constant encouragement, support and friendship. I honestly look forward to hitting the gym now and can't wait to glove up/warm up. Before I met Garmenn I ate very minimal carbs, didn't deadlift due to a prior back injury several years ago, and despised lifting upper body weights. Garmenn should win an award for his patience. He worked with me in the beginning of each session to teach me the proper form for deadlifting and I have been doing it now with no discomfort in my back. It is a staple of working out and I totally dismissed it because I didn't know how to do it properly. Garmen keeps it interesting by mixing up my workouts with boxing, monkey crawls, and turkish sit up nonsense; basically anything short of hanging from the ceiling! Some would probably consider it a small miracle that back and shoulder workouts have become some of my favorite lifts and my one steady state cardio day is my most dreaded workout of the week. Garmenn went back to the basics with me and taught me the importance of stretching, giving my body rest days, but most importantly the importance of balance nutrition. Eating more carbs has been something I have been lectured on year in and year out, however, I never fully committed to it. I have slowly incorporated more carbs into my diet and they don't scare me anymore. I see muscle definition in places I have never seen before and can finally see my lower two abs coming through. I can honestly say I have never seen faster results in all the years I have worked out.
This was a rare experience and find for a trainer in St. Louis. Not only did I get some of the best physical training but my mental well being is getting healthier as well. It works hand in hand. It's a complete wellness program. He's professional, my sessions are hand-tailored to fit my needs, he's punctual and always goes the extra mile until the mission is accomplished. He watches the way I respond to each exercise and movement so that my responses are not lost in just a time waster. Each step is valuable. Tayna is a very knowledgeable trainer who has a passion for helping people stay injury free by always paying attention to using the correct technique for each exercise. She is also very good at tailoring you program to counteract any imbalances you may have and make your whole body stronger.
I worked with Emil Hector for 2 years at a local boxing club. I started as a member and with Emils help became a trainer and employee. Emil is incredibly high energy and a fun personality to work with. He enjoys helping his clients and customers and he invests himself in their success. He is also an excellent salesman who garnered numerous awards for our club at the national level for sales. Emil would be a valued addition to any team.
