Welcome to Photos By Phil Portfolio! My name is Phillip Huiswoud. I am a Saint Louis based photographer. I'm originally from the DC area and relocated to Saint Louis in 2012. For me, photography started as a hobby when I went on my honeymoon in September 2012. From then I was hooked. After shooting numerous events for friends and family, from proms and graduation photos to birthday parties and weddings and the numerous compliments I received on my work, I decided to start Photos By Phil. Photos By Phil is my way of sharing my passion for photography with the world. I specialize in portrait photography. I really enjoy taking portraits that support a milestone in someones life, whether it's a prom, graduation, family portrait, birthday parties. I also have a strong passion for sports and really enjoy sports photography, particularly when I can get into the mix for some great shots at unbelievable (and sometimes dangerous!) angles. I encourage each prospective client to review my portfolio as I like to keep a broad range of the work I perform that demonstrates my ability to direct individuals for posing, but that I also have the ability to capture those priceless candids. With each of my sessions, I like to understand my clients vision for their photos and help direct that vision when needed. Each session, regardless of the time or amount of investment receives the same high quality professionalism and dedication to ensure that the value you receive is greater than the monetary cost. Working with Phil was a great experience all around! We traveled from New Mexico to have senior pictures taken in St. Louis and Phil was very helpful with location, wardrobe, and pose ideas. We hired Phil for some family photos and were extremely pleased with the total experience. Phil was great working with our 5 year old and 2 year old during the 75 min session. He was extremely patient with our kids and adapted to their behavior during the shoot (resulting in some great action shots as they roamed the area). Phil was extremely professional (showed up 15 min early, quick response to emails, dressed well) and Phil even worked with us when we had to reschedule 48 hrs before our initial shoot. The final shots look great and the professional touch is undeniable. Phil is priced very competitively and you should not hesitate to hire him.

All of my prices include high resolution digital images and printing rights.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With each session, I like to understand the type of photos my client would like (i.e. traditional posing or candids) and the type of background (i.e. studio, park, city). We walk through the process before, during and after the session so there are no surprises.
