Instructed at college level for many years at Jefferson College and Maryville University. Many years of teaching and playing many styles of music including classical, jazz, folk and bluegrass. I have been a student of David's since around 2019 and have been very pleased with his instruction. It is difficult to find a caring, compassionate teacher when you are an adult learner of violin. I have especially enjoyed how he has created comradery among his students at the many events he has hosted at his home. He is patient, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. I have grown in my skills and dedication to studying because of him. He always has something new to introduce to my lessons. While music theory is not always my best skill, I know that I have grown so much in this area. David has been so flexible and understanding with my lesson schedule. As an adult learner with a full-time job, life sometimes throws a curveball and he has been very understanding with that. I especially love his new scale book for practicing at home. This book is so helpful when I am learning a new piece. It helps to get my fingers ready to play a new key.

Dave McNair is the best teacher. He is responsive to student needs, and creates individualized lessons that bring out the best in each student. Dave is the reason I have stuck with violin for the past three years. I'm an adult beginner, but Dave makes me feel like I am destined to be the next Jascha Heifetz. His approachable style works with younger and older students alike. He's so positive, and really makes you believe you can do anything as a musician. Highly recommended!
