FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The pricing system it self is not complicated. It's the clients always thinking they are getting the short end of the stick on the pricing system. As a photographer; we need equipment that costs thousands of dollars. Education and continuing classes that costs thousands of dollars, a Lab to print our work, a computer system to edit our work. A professional company to make Albums, cards, etc. Then when we put a bid in for working a wedding, we get turned down because we charge to much and Auntie with her $100. camera has offered to take pictures as her gift to the bride and groom. Sorry. You pay lots for the cake, catering, Venue, Dress, etc. All that goes away after that special day. The Album full of pictures of that special day stay with you for ever... Do you really want Auntie to take them for you?
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get to know them. Know what they are looking for. It's easy for me to see how a person interacts with others and goofs around during a photo shoot to know their personality and if they want candid's, out of the box portraits, or formal/traditional portraits. Once I have that narrowed down, then I break the group down. I start with group shot then couple or smaller family shot, then individuals, then mix it up. I am able to get a bit of everything that way but with less chaos.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America. They have classes for all types of photographers every month. We also have a convention every year to learn from each other, get awards, honors, and certificates. I also do update classes on line, read lots of books on ideas, and visit with other photographers.
