FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My customers from my first "trade", if you will, forced me into the line of work I now find myself. The need for my talents was so great that it literally moved me into this line f work. My ability to look at a structure and forensically find out what is causing the problem, and finding the solutions to correct them have lead to many successes along the many years I have been in this line of work. The great customers are also part of the reason we continue to provide the services we do.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always ask for References, Certifications, and Completed Project Insurance. Be sure to ask for a Certificate of Insurance and call the Insurance Agent to verify this policy is in force. Many times people hire contractors who's work fails to perform and then later finds out they were not certified and did not have proper insurance.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
The common question we are asked is how long have you been doing this? I always chuckle when I hear this question. My Dad and Grandfather were tradesmen and builders. Being old school they brought us out to work at a very young age. My first stud wall was raised at age 8, my first packout of contents was at age 8 as well and I remember my Dad telling me to pull harder on the dolly as we were pulling a washing machine out of a basement, at 8 years old! My first mold job was in 1978. I was certified to remediate mold in Jan 2000 and certified by certificate number 245! by one of the authors of our industries mold "bible" IICRC S-520. I worked with both my brothers during high school refinishing contents, furniture, and burnishing large copper items. Including restoring a certified table piece that came over on the Mayflower and was on Antiques Roadshow many years later.
