FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I continuously am attending seminars. Not every great photographer shoots the same. Some like to do things out of the box and some like to stick to traditions. I like to learn from them all and take from them what I think will improve MY images. My photography isn't for everyone - not every bride is my bride - but the ones who want a timeless, creative, glamorous, classical, dramatic image, is my bride.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
The way I started out in this field is a funny one. I originally started out taking photos and videos of my horses that I had for sale. Soon friends started hiring me to do the same thing. To up my game I started studying great photographers who took pictures of horses all over the world and found out that the great ones actually started out as wedding photographers which taught them how to use natural light to their advantage and to capture emotions. While learning this, my daughter got engaged and hired a high-end local photographer for her wedding (I did her video) and we were highly disappointed. That's when I decided that no bride should have to feel that disappointment and I jumped both feet into this profession.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I do a LOT of weddings although I try to limit myself to 10 weddings a year. I do a LOT of portraits as well - mainly for professionals who are looking for a certain kind of look. I still get tons of work for photographing (and videographing) horses which I absolutely love.
