Introduction: I provide illustration to corporate, advertising, design & publishing clients. I work primarily in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop. I'm proficient in sketching & drawing by hand and can generate quick visual concepts for ideation. I work in a variety of styles from technical & realistic to cartoon. Comps & storyboards are also a specialty. How I stand out? Not sure. I've been drawing all my life. I've been illustrating and painting over 20 years and admire my fellow illustrators and painters and look at their work constantly. I'm humbled & excited when I see great illustration, comics & painting and strive to make my own work better. I strive also to be a good partner for my clients to work with and bring their concept to life within budget and on-time. I enjoy the variety of assignments and working with my clients to capture their visual needs with a minimum of wheel-spinning so they can get on with what they do best.

I’ve worked with Gerry for well over a decade. He’s illustrated all kinds of things for me; lawn tractors, construction equipment, print and tv advertising concepts, complex technical processes, once even a giant inflatable bib (don’t ask). The thing I love most about Gerry is his uncanny ability to immediately grasp what I am looking for. I give him a chicken scratch sketch and a rough verbal description and he gives me back exactly what I had in my head, only better. He takes my vision and adds his own amazing talent to bring the concepts to life. Also he works quickly, is very responsive, and has strong digital skills. I’ve gushed enough about Gerry, he’s going to get a big head. Just hire him already.

Gerry, is a very talented illustrator who brings his very creative mind, with good ideas, to every project. For me, Gerry illustrated over 50 machine renderings, in multiple steps, to showcase a large industrial grain manufacturing company. Most of the art was animated for a huge touch-screen presentation. The project spanned several months to build, illustrate and code. Gerry’s illustrative goals were to take complicated machinery and simplify each to illustrate and make it easy for clients and employees to get a better understanding on how this grain processing plant works into 12 main processes. The final Presentation was a huge success—and a lot of that visual credit goes to the detailed illustrations that Gerry O’Neill illustrated for this big project.

Gerry O'Neill is such a gifted artist. He has a way of looking at the world, taking that unique vision and turning it into something that is truly his own. On top of all that, he is the consummate professional. He hits even the craziest of deadlines and does it smiling every single time. When I visited Gerry O'Neill's website, I saw what a versatile artist he is and I knew that he would be the ideal illustrator for my children's book "Molly Visits Dublin". What I happily discovered during our collaboration is his attention to detail, his heedfulness and his wonderful sense of humor. I choose his cartooning style and I am delighted with the fully realized personalities he created for my characters. I am also very pleased with his renderings of Dublin's iconic Georgian architecture. Gerry O'Neill is thoroughly professional and a joy to work with and I look forward to working with him in the future!

Responded immediately, understood my idea. Only drawback is in Illustrator would be better, but price a bit too high for me, although the market rate.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing depends on desired style of illustration. Simpler styles are generally less expensive than more complex, detailed styles. Quantity of illustrations and time-line are also taken into account.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After desired style has been decided on I generate rough sketches for client to review. Client gives feedback and sketches are refined and reviewed by client then it's on tho the final illustration.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Life-long drawing and sketching passion. I'm a graduate of Art Institute of Philadelphia. Twenty plus years experience as a freelance illustrator.
