How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was in high school working for a temporary agency. They sent me to hand out government cheese. I was amazed at the people wearing furs and driving big fancy cars that were taking government handouts. My dad explained the welfare system to me that night at supper. I decided that the government was incapable of operating efficiently, so I decided to put them on a diet. I work very hard to ensure that my clients pay the least amount of tax possible. This decreases the amount of tax revenue that the government has available to waste. Brilliant! We don't have a revenue problem in this country. We have a spending problem.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Drop in unannouced. See if they will sit down and talk to you. I spend a great deal of time getting to know my clients so that I can understand them fully and help them effectively. Is your preparer only interested in the amount they can bill you or are they interested in you as a person?
