We hired Worldwide Demolition to tear down 3 mobile homes for us. our agreement was 55% down and the remainder upon completion. We sent a certified check, which he cashed at a check cashing place instead of depositing it into a bank account, this was our first red flag. They sent one crew out that spent multiple days tearing down the homes and left giant piles of trash. I would say they completed 25-30% of the job. This crew then did not show up. When we reached out to find out what was happening he told us we needed to get the remainder of the dumpsters and withhold it from the payment that was due. I disagreed with this and he said they worked it out. The next crew never showed up so when we reached out again, he again asked me to get the dumpsters. I reluctantly agreed and had it provided in writing that we would retain the dumpster cost from the remaining 45%. Dumpsters were delivered, work started again. After the new crew went out and worked for 3 days (and me coordinating dumpster swap outs which should have been his responsibility) his subcontractor called me and asked when he could meet me to be paid. I told him that I was paying Worldwide Demolition and they had to pay him. He told me that he was told I would be paying him, which is not true. Worldwide Demolition will now not answer my phone calls or text messages and also will not answer for his subcontractor.
