My 8 year old son had His first lesson with John and it was GREAT! He was on time and very prepared. He made Wyatt feel comfortable and did a wonderful job with his lesson! Wyatt enjoyed it and learned a lot! We look forward to continuing lessons with him!

So, I had my very first lesson with John last night at my home (I have him scheduled weekly) and I cannot tell you how pleased I am with my overall experience. He did a great job in preparing me for my first lesson and setting forth proper expectations on both ends, to maximize the effectiveness of our time together. He is really easy to talk to and he truly took the time to understand his students' comfort level. He explains things really well and even plays along with you to help guide you through the lessons. Unlike other teachers I have had, where all they did was talk, we played for the majority of our time together. You can't learn unless you play and him showing me proper techniques really helped guide the instruction. Probably one of the best things too is that he worked around my schedule to place regular weekly lessons on the calendar in MY home. It is so easy and convenient, which make learning that much easier. And he comes prepared with him own guitar and music stand to help the lessons run smoother. And his pricing is very competitive and I think worth every penny. And oh, he even has a credit card swiper if you need to pay with a card. He just makes the entire process so easy! :) Last but not least, he emailed me a post lesson recap of what we learned, what I did well and what I needed to focus on to prepare myself for the next lesson. I was blown away when I saw the detailed email recap. John is clearly invested in his students and that is apparent in the time he spends communicating with us both pre and post lessons. I'm a beginner...an OLDER beginner...have only had 1 lesson but am hooked already...John's method of teaching is no less than fantastic...I learned a great foundation for guitar with the 1 lesson...looking forward to practice, practice, practice!!

So far I enjoyed my three lessons with John and I continuously look forward to every one. He encourages me on my progress, gives me strategies to improve, and personalizes each lesson. John sends follow up notes after every session that summarize the session, give advice on technique, and outline practice assignments for the week, which are especially helpful to me. I also enjoy the interesting historical facts he shares about the pieces I am playing. It helps to increase my music appreciation and gives context to the pieces. All of these factors positivelyinfluence my practice time during and beyond the session times.

Price for lessons will vary depending on duration selected (30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 hour) as well as location - Student's Home, ( $40 3/4 hour). Music and Arts Studio Location $27 (1/2 hour; Registration fee required). Contact me to discuss best options or go to link provide above in the ABOUT sections of this profile.

I discuss student's goals with each new student and tailor their lesson plan to help meet those goals.

Over 50 years experience of playing music and performing on TV, Radio, Recording Studio, Live on Stage and formal solo recitals. Earned AFA in Music with specialty in Classic Guitar. Experience in several bands as well as orchestra. Taught several years of one on one and group music lessons.
