FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
As a handyman, my pricing varies based on the type and complexity of the job. I offer different pricing methods depending on what makes the most sense for the project: Hourly Rate: This is common for tasks where the time can vary due to detail or difficulty. In many cases, customers end up saving money this way especially when the job is completed efficiently. Flat Rate: For straightforward jobs or by customer request, I can provide a set price upfront. This works well when the scope is clear and there’s less chance of surprises. Square Footage or Per Piece: For certain jobs like new construction or repetitive tasks in favorable conditions, I may charge by square footage or per item installed or built. Every project is different, so I aim to be flexible and transparent with pricing. I always make sure the customer understands how the pricing works before starting the job, and I’m happy to walk through different options if needed.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process starts with good communication. I like to first understand the customer’s needs, expectations, and timeline. Once we’ve discussed the project, I usually offer a quote based on the scope of work, materials (if needed), and any special considerations. If the customer agrees, we schedule the job and I stay in contact leading up to the start date. I always aim to show up on time, keep the work area clean, and be respectful of the customer’s space. Throughout the job, I provide updates and make sure the customer feels informed and comfortable with the progress. Once the work is done, I walk through everything to ensure satisfaction before wrapping up.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My training started on the job hands on experience has been my greatest teacher. I began in drywall installation and finishing, where I learned the importance of precision and detail. Over the years, I’ve continued to build my skill set by learning directly in the field, working alongside experienced tradespeople, and challenging myself to master new tools and techniques. I’ve also spent time studying business management, labor cost estimation, and project planning to better serve my customers and run my business effectively. My education has been real world, consistent, and ongoing which is what makes me confident in the quality of my work today.
