- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing is specifically based on the needs of the customer. It's really easy to assign a per hour format to a job, but there's no reason to charge someone the same amount to help them set up an email as you would to build them a website, regardless of time spent.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Prior to starting Motherboard Connection, I was an IT professional for Circuit City until their closing, and a sales consultant for Verizon Wireless. I'd been doing IT work as a freelance for a number of years, as well. For close to four years, I ran a record store, and the experience in management and running my own business inspired me to combine all of my prior experience into a new endeavor.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't be afraid to ask questions or admit you're unsure of something. Often, especially when working for over the phone customer service, I've found that customers will avoid asking questions that they feel make them appear unintelligent until the point when they're in a bigger mess than they would've been at the onset. We encourage everyone to come to us with anything, no matter how "dumb" they may think it is.
