We have a wonderful rescue Golden named Sadie. She was 2 years old when she joined our home and had a great demeanor indoors, loving and affectionate, with a few "need to work on" in the house moments. She is very high-spirited, to say the least, and had very little training or intuition outside of the home which, as we live in the midst of a large city, was challenging as she was constantly around a ton of distractions (cars, dogs, city life) and a real safety risk as she didn't understand even the most basic commands (or at least pretended not to!). My wife and I sent her to Rolling Meadows for extensive "Level 4" training, viewing this as an investment in a lifetime of health and happiness for her. While it was hard to have her away so long, Barbara was great with communication and addressing our specific needs. It is a family affair at RM, so Sadie was exposed to all sorts of people, children, other dogs, and new experiences along the training journey.Sadie returned to our home last weekend. Barbara and Maddie came to our house and were awesome. They spent three long sessions with us at our home to explain the philosophy behind the training and to work on commands with Sadie. Sadie arrived in perfect health and re-entered our home seamlessly, retaining everything we loved about her to begin with. I think it is helpful to set expectations appropriately. Sadie (thankfully) did no return a wind-up toy who robotically responded to any command. It was clear she knew all the commands and would do them virtually perfectly for Barbara every time. Because we were remote and not involved regularly with Sadie's training, it was really time to "train the owners" and not the dog. Sadie would "test" us and did not immediately obey every command. My wife and I found it very important to understand that Sadie needed to get in a rhythm with us and understand that the same skills she learned at RM were applicable back at home and were going to apply consistently. It's actually been a fun process to work with Sadie and brought us even closer to her. Bit by bit, she began to consistently follow our lead with the commands, first in the house and then in public places and the dog park. Every time she began responding to one command, it seemed to reinforce the others and we began to develop a rapport around the training. I got more comfortable with the commands and my tone and body language the more I practiced. The results have been great so far, and I (and Sadie) still have more to master together. But every time we accomplish something, it builds on itself and the progress accelerates. After only a week of work, she's following many of the commands seamlessly and is well on her way to some of the more involved off leash commands as she adjusts to her environment. In addition to the actual confidence and tools we now have, an unexpected byproduct has been how enjoyable the continued training is for her and our family. We've had a blast with each step. This was one of the best investments I've ever made. It pays back for Sadie and our family every day. Barbara was a champ, and continues to provide advice and check in regularly. I can't recommend Rolling Meadows enough. Great experience.

We bought a "service dog" for our daughter that has extreme social anxiety. First let me say that this dog was extremely well trained! We love her to death and she is part of our family. The problem is they sold us a dog that also has anxiety issues! She is completely unsuitable to be a service dog for a person with anxiety. After spending $10,000 on the dog and delivery we cannot afford to spend more to get a dog that is a real service dog. They did offer to exchange her, but really, we already loved her by then! We couldn't send her back. My main complaint is - don't sell a dog as a "service dog" if you aren't an expert in what is required of that kind of dog. I felt we were misled and really can't understand how they didn't know she was so nervous in public and with new people. We've had her for 2 years now and she is still too nervous to act as a service dog. :(

I adopted a Great Dane born deaf and blind. Although I had successfully trained dogs for many years, I had no idea where to begin with Dori. I turned to Rolling Meadows. Not only were Barbara & Allen up for the challenge, but they looked forward to the opportunity. My Veterinarian had warned me that deaf and blind dogs develop behavioral problems that typically necessitate euthanasia by age 3. At Doris 5 year check-up, he informed me that he no longer warned owners of disabled dogs for potentially poor outcomes. He also felt her wonderful disposition was a direct result of her obedience training. Instead, Dori became an example of what great pets properly trained dogs, even those with handicaps make.Barbara and Allen also trained another Dane we rescued from an abusive home. Duke was terrified of most all people, especially men. He returned to us a confident proud dog.Since losing our beloved Danes, we acquired an Australian Shepherd from Rolling Meadows. Kally has been a wonderful addition to our family. She integrated into our home seamlessly. We have a young Brittany Spaniel and an elderly Lab/GS mix and she gets along well with both. She is extremely sweet and EVERYONE comments on how calm well behaved she is.Barbaras training abilities are top notch and I recommend her to anyone who mentions needing a pet or help with training!
