I had let the bushes across the whole front of my house grow taller and thicker, getting a foot or more over the window sills. Chris responded immediately to my Thumbtack request, with an extremely competitive price and without having to make a preliminary on-site visit. After reviewing other bids and scheduling contractor visits, I accepted Chris's bid.
He scheduled me for the next day. His profile showed he was a full service lawn maintenance professional with the proper insurance. When he arrived, we talked about the details of the job. Luckily, he had brought a large open trailer to haul away the trimmings. The upper bushes had become woody and dense, wth some branches being an inch or more in diameter. Chris persisted with patience, using both a powered hedge trimmer and large cutting clippers. He cleaned up all the trimmings; filling the large trailer.
The cut line was clean, consistent, and horizonal across the length of the house (about 60 feet); exactly as I had envisioned.
Chris was even able to do an on-the-spot extra job for us of triming back about 12 tall pampus grass bundles in our field.
Chris was congenial and informative and very professional. His company offers a full range of lawn services and I would not hesitate to use him again. And, re-iterating my earlier comment: his bid was well below the other similarly full-service contractors.
