Jacob Joyner

Hey there! My name is Jacob Joyner, and I'm a filmmaker and photographer currently based in North Carolina. I'm born and raised in North Carolina. I was born in Winston-Salem and grew up in forests of Raleigh, North Carolina. I have been making things since I was a little kid. My first creations were magic and puppet shows as a small child. As a teenager, I created haunted houses during halloween for all the neighborhood kids. For many, many years I shot photography as a creative outlet. A way to interact with the world, and create images off of the experiences and places I went. I have a real passion and love for photography and creating images. When I work with families, couples, and generally anyone; I go out of my way to provide a safe and relaxing experience for everyone involved. I have three main tenants when shooting photography: 1. The experience matters. My entire goal for shooting portraits is to create a memory in time. Not simply capture someone's likeness but to hold space and allow a new memory to form. This is not hard when you are in a beautiful location during a sunset. My approach is relaxed yet focused. I don't want anyone to feel rushed or stressed. This not only makes for a beautiful experience but beautiful photos! 2. The photo matters. I intentionally shoot with less clients so that the clients I do work with are provided the energy and space to receive photos that are not merely technically solid but artistically innovative. I believe that it is important to shoot many photos, in many settings, to ensure that we are have the greatest chance of successfully creating art. I love the fact that the images I will create for you, will be cherished and seen for many years to come. 3. The editing matters. I believe that editing is one half of the photographic process. I take the time necessary to edit the images thoroughly. That means all of the images I deliver include color grading, blemish removal, skin retouching, and distractions in the backgrounds. Although many photographers state that less is more, I try to strike a balance between quality and quantity, creating a beautiful web gallery that will allow you to download your edited photos and share them with others.
