Working with John has been great, I really look forward to working with him on a regular basis. John is very professional and an extremely gifted teacher. A couple small tweaks and my sax sounded so much better, he makes learning easier and a lot of fun. If you’re looking for music lessons, look no further. John is your guy!!!!

Details: 26 - 44 years old • No formal training • No, the student cannot read music • Rock • Blues • Jazz • What the teacher recommends • Yes, the student has an instrument • 60 minutes • At the pro’s location • My home, venue, etc.

After our first lesson with John we could tell already he was going to be a great fit for our son. Our 8 year old learned more in his 30 minute session with John than he had in two months of beginner guitar lessons elsewhere. John is enthusiastic, clearly knows his stuff when it comes to not only playing the guitar but actually being able to teach it! He even wrote his own guitar lesson book! Highly recommend him for any kids/adults looking to pick up the guitar!

Details: 6 - 9 years old • 0 - 2 yrs of formal training • No, cannot read music • Electric • Rock • Yes, the student has an instrument • 30 minutes • At the pro’s location • My home, venue, etc.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Saxophone is where it all started in 5th grade! Picking up the guitar at age 15, I began leading church worship services shortly after. I discovered a gift for songwriting and have a number of songs published and performed in churches around the world. I’ve contributed to numerous album projects through the years and just completed my first country album with lyricist/guitarist Roland Macher. Find it on Apple Music and Spotify. I began teaching guitar and other fretted instruments, along with sax, in the 90s and I’m thrilled to help students achieve their musical goals. And I still love the opportunity to be a singing storyteller whenever and wherever someone provides a stage! On most Sundays I can be found leading praise and worship at my local church in the Charlotte NC area.

5 Reasons For Online Music Lessons The pandemic was a game changer for music teachers. Before 2020 we believed in-person was the only way. Suddenly one hundred percent was online! For a year. Today, fully 1/3 of my students are online, from coast-to-coast in 4 time zones. It works great! Here’s 5 reasons why nothing stands in your way to start your musical pursuit: 1. Virtual lessons are so easy to do. With a click you’re instantly face to face for a customized one-on-one session. 2. Learning in your home environment sets you at ease. It’s natural to feel intimidated while being taught by someone you consider to be a professional. Sitting in your favorite spot in a peaceful home atmosphere helps relieve some of that anxiety. 3. Minimal set up and minimal “stuff” needed. Your instrument, an internet connected computer (or cell phone!) and a chair. That’s pretty much it. I will provide the written AND video support for every single thing we cover, even assignment updates! 4. Your personalized video library is always accessible. Right at your fingertips, 24/7, this virtual library is a great asset in your musical journey! 5. NO DRIVE TIME! Learning an instrument can provide a lifetime of enjoyment for you and your whole family. I’m ready to help you get started today!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Being a good player does not necessarily make you a good teacher. I am a professional artist with a proven track record of helping students achieve their goals and desires in music.
