FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I price via the type of the job (weddings, special events, individual, business, couples, family, etc.), the length of the time the job will require (plus I typically edit 1-2 hours to every hour I shoot)- you can get a TON of pictures in an hour, the size of the group I'm working with, and sometimes I charge a travel fee if the shoot is outside of Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, and Kitty Hawk. I do give discounts though to public servants (Sometimes it good to tell me when you contact me what you do because I typically don't ask.) and locals. Also, I try to keep my reputation as having the "cheapest rates" so I will give discounts for large chunks of shooting time. I try to keep my prices under control. I like my clients and I want them to like me. I am trying to make a living but I'm not looking to get rich. I love my job.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I live in the Outer Banks, NC and as many locals know (or anyone who lives in a resort area)- jobs are extremely hard to come by. After going several months looking for a job, I decided to start my own business using the skills I already have.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common types of jobs I am usually offered are weddings- the Outer Banks is a resort area home to multiple wedding photographers, ministers, florists, etc. (You get the picture) and family photos which are probably by far my favorite because I love working with kids! They might be balls of energy but they produce some of the most creative and inspiring shots!
