I have only met with the instructor once, so I can't give much of a review, but from what I've seen and the little I know, I think he will be a good fit for me. Additionally, I saw him play in a band locally, and they are really good, so I feel confidant in his ability.

Adam is awesome! He played the piano and did all the music for our wedding and reception. We told him exactly what we wanted and he was right on board. He can play any song you want. He played and sang Marry Me by Train and did an amazing job. His talents and precious character were so appreciated for our big day! After that we asked him play and sing for my Dad’s 80th Birthday Party. He entertained us with a mix of old style traditional hymns and contemporary praise and worship songs. He is super versatile and would be a perfect choice for any event.

Working with the Next Level was a great experience - they are super friendly and accommodating and very responsive. They played at our reception and we also had a couple of them play at our ceremony so there were a lot of moving parts and they happily handled things. Their actual performances were amazing and incredible quality for what we paid. I spent a LOT of time researching bands because I wanted to have a GREAT band - it was my number 1 wedding priority - but also didn’t want to just pay something obscene. They so far exceeded my expectations in terms of the quality of the performance from the vocals to the lights to the song choice. So many of my guests were coming up to us asking the name of the band and saying how amazing they were. We had a huge crowd on the dance floor absolutely the whole night. I couldn’t have been happier with The Next Level

I have know Peter for 10 years as a classical violinist and as a fiddler in a blue grass band. He is very skilled and technical in many music styles. He doesn't just enjoy playing the violin, but enjoys what the violin does and the essence of the instrument. Because of the variety in his talents and passion, he makes an excellent teacher and offers perspective that you won't find in other teachers.

My wife and I hired Jazz Regolution for our wedding reception and we couldn't be happier about the result. The band was professional, accommodating, and very talented. Our guests had a lot of fun with the dancing and had many good things to say about the quality of the live music. I highly recommend Jazz Revolution for a wedding reception or any similar event.

Mike was excellent all around. He responded immediately to the Thumbtack request; provided clear, comprehensive information about the service he offers via his comments and a link to his website; sent a thoughtful, professional contract; and responded kindly and favorably to custom requests that meant going above and beyond expectations. The evening of our party, he appeared on time, set up equipment efficiently, and was kind to everyone. Best of all, he provided a most awesome vibe to our event. I am thankful to him for his great talent and we fully intend to ask him to play again at future events. If you're looking for a talented professional to make your event memorable, I suggest checking out Mike!

      About

Kollection is an Albemarle, NC-based, family-friendly, and all-star party band. Kollection plays music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, with heavy emphasis on regional-favorite Carolina Beach Music songs with enough classic rock thrown in to make a good mix that pleases most Carolina parties and festival crowds. Kollection's members have individually been at this for decades, and our all-star group first played together in 2004. Kollection uses no booking agent; therefore, our rates are far more affordable than many comparable bands as you book directly with us. We can provide everything necessary for our show, but the stage and electricity, or we can bring just the backline when frontline services are provided. We want to play for your event anywhere in the central Carolinas! Our fee will vary, depending on the travel requirements, venue requirements, and length of the performance. Just visit our website for more information, including our song list, and click on our MySpace link to hear audio samples.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

      • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
      • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
      • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
