FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Common obedience Puppy training Advice to first-time dog owners Behavior advice and attempt to explain/show clients how to do things to elicit the proper responses in their dogs
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A one year dobie tore her ACL and the owner did not want to do surgery yet because she is so "puppy" they were afraid she would just tear it again. So she had been restricted to a leash or crated. After a few months of this, the dog began to be very possessive of anything she got ahold of or what fell on the floor. The owners wanted to rush over and take it away from her and she was growling, and snapping at the owners. I came over, analyzed the situation and decided she was merely bored. I suggested that she make it a game that when the dog gave up the possession, she rewarded the dog saying, thank you for bringing that to me! I really needed that! I thought I may be needed for many sessions, but that was all it took. Now the dog is bringing keys to her, her phone, the random socks everyone has laying around. And no more growling or snapping!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I am an honest person. Don't let any dog trainer promise any results and never let them use devices like prong collars or e-collars unless you are sure they know how to use them properly. Find credentials on the person. There is no real regulation to the industry to be picky.
