How does your service stand out?

My design studio offers affordable design services. I describe myself as a creative designer, due to the versatility and broad spectrum of my skill set and experience -- I have worked in the fields of interior and graphic design, designed and executed display windows in New York, have been recognized as an abstract painter, muralist and portrait photographer. Creating custom designs is a specialty of mine and by allowing a client's own personality to be the inspiration; my creative process is fueled with the knowledge that I am being given the opportunity to create a "one of a kind" design for my clients.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I'm Gil, an artist who loves all things creative, from the process of visualized conception to getting my hands dirty in the act of executing the project. Adding beauty to one's world by creating personalized designs and art that make people smile brings me a tremendous amount of joy, gratitude and satisfaction.

It was a pleasure working with Gil. He created a beautiful piece of art. Gil is a very positive person and every interaction leaves you feeling great. I would love to get portraits for all of my friends who have furry kids. Enjoy!

We commissioned two pet portraits from Gil Cory in May 2014. We simply provided the photos of the dogs, some general color desires, and some special points about the dogs…. A variety of artist proofs were returned within just a few weeks for us to review and consider. Gil incorporated our thoughts around the color’s in our home and mixed in the fun facts about the dogs (both are crazy for squirrels) into each portrait. Gil provided a variety of options on backgrounds and printing options. We in no way could have imagined the creativity that would get turned around so fast. It was hard to make a decision but Debbie & I provided feedback on the proofs we liked best & Gil quickly turned around the suggestions we had. We worked mainly via email and that worked well. Total time from sending pictures to receiving framed & matted portraits – was about 4 weeks. Each portrait was delivered expertly framed & mated and neatly wrapped in a poster sized black & white print of the finished picture. Such a neat extra that we did not expect - we have subsequently framed those black & white prints in poster sized frames! Overall great experience to work with Gil. We are looking to do a third portrait of our new puppy started soon.

Gil created the logo for us, One World Dragon Boat. Gil took our vision, our mission and communicated it in a single spectacular, beautiful piece of art. There is nothing that could have made our experience better. Gil energy, creativity, attention to detail, engagement and attitude make working with him a pleasure.

Gil was so easy to work with and the finished product exceeded my expectations. He did a drawing of some pets for me and the photo is fun and happy, just as I requested. Gil was prompt and even delivered the picture to me since he was in the area.

Years ago Gill did trompe l'oeil in my condo. Everyone who sees it is amazed! That's why i can't ever move..the thought of it being painted over crushes me! Thanks, Gil. You're the best!

Gil has transformed two photographs of our dogs (so far...more planned!) into Graphic Art Pieces. They are truly works of art, and we are thrilled to display them in our home. We are looking forward to completing our collection with the rest of our pets' photos and intend to commission several as gifts as well. Gil is a pleasure to work with, always the consummate professional.

I called Gil about a graphic design pop art pet portrait. He had me send a photo and some descriptions. He then sent me several different choices, helped me decide, and then got it all done to meet my gift deadline. He kept me in the loop and made some great color choices. Great experience.

I engaged Gil to do a pop-art portrait of my Italian Greyhound, Andy. I offered Andy's favorite things and the colors I liked. Gil provided several exaples, all of which I loved. The framed graphic has taken a place of honor in my home and my fiends and family have raved over it. It is truly a piece that I will treasure forever. Gil is a pleasure to work with, as he is creative and a gentletman. I have been recommending him to folks, most highly.

Q&A

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Graphic and Design classes, Stage Desgin
How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was a boy I loved art, archaeology, and my pets and have always been inspired by the natural environment that surrounds us all... Some things never change. I grew up on a cattle and horse ranch in Mississippi. When I was in school, I couldn't wait for any chance I could find to create art. I liked all things aesthetic; painting, photography, interiors, clay, woodworking...you name it. I studied fine arts and have enjoyed working with various mediums, from acrylics to computer graphic programs, I consider myself as an artist/creative designer, and feel I am at my best when I pursue my goals with this in mind.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Large scale event design - from layout to execution. My skill set allows me to work in several different creative fields at once, which allows me to bring something that most clients do not get very often - one person to communicate with throughout the process.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Designing the interior, logo, and pet portraits to hang in a local animal rescue, I voluntered to do this for free - and it gave me a tremendous feeling of helping out, along with being creative.
