FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most surveyors do not use a complicated pricing system. Their fees are either /Hr or /Acre, and any fixed prices given should be based on the /Hr fee. I like many other surveyors do residential lots that are 2 acres or less at a fixed price and lots larger than 2 acres at a /Acre fee. Two acres is the break point because of the time needed to do the survey.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The state mandates that every Professional Land Surveyor must complete a minimum of 15 professional development hours of continuing education.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was studying engineering in the late 1970's I took a couple of surveying classes and the closest work to what I had studied was land surveying.
