Introduction: If I am photographing a wedding I spend some time getting to know the clients I am photographing. I love knowing how they met, their favorite activities, their hobbies, etc. so when the day comes I am not a stranger in their lives and I can get more in tune with their wedding day. I find myself laughing so much more when I take the time to know my clients before the big day. For my portrait clients, I ask lots of questions and plan their sessions with them down to every detail. This insures a successful session 99% of the time. I love working with people in walks of life and working as a team to create together. I love having fun with my clients and just being me. I like the idea of photographing new subject material or to change my methods because of the environment. It pushes me to think outside of my box. Also, I love that as a young person, I swore I would never use geometry or algebra as an adult and now I am in a profession that has to use it all the time. LOL!

We hired Lani for our wedding in July. She was great at our wedding and everything leading up to the point when we got our pictures. We're missing key images from our wedding date - our cake cutting, first dance, dancing with our parents, etc. Lani has not returned any phone calls or emails. We've even tried to stop by her shop. I've never been so upset over something. We paid her our money. Why can't she give us our pictures. I feel like I've been taken advantage of and she doesn't even care.

We hired her and John for our wedding. She was very friendly and said she care more about the relationship than she did the contract. I trusted her with one of my post important days. Comunication has been horrible she wouldn't return any calls or texts. For amost a year we have been trying to work with her through the NE Attorney General and now she has changed her phone and mail is being returned when I thought things were about to end postively. I'm very disappointed and saddend by this whole experience of that day I wanted to be magicially unforgettable no tragically unforgettable.Trust is forever broken now.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I photograph a lot of jewelry, pastries, meals, drinks and cupcakes during the week, while photographing weddings and families on the weekends. I love product and food photography as I get to design the look with the clients that baked them or created the products or with the advertisers that have a point to make with one image. This is a fun challenge for me each time. Then, on the weekends I spend time with families of all kinds photographing weddings, family portraits, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. Then sometimes I attend big events and I get to meet all kinds of other professionals. It is a great job that isn't a job.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for images that have good lighting with shadows in the right places. Look for sharp edges and blurred backgrounds and great composition. Images that have knowledge and experience behind them have some great attributes that make them stand out against inexperience.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Photography of people is very intimate and I wish people would take the time to have conversations about what they want, what they like, and how they are going to use their images before the session. Getting to know the clients is so critical to a session truly being about them.
