FAQs
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Finding electric radiant heat in a ceiling that the tenant who was looking to buy the property did not know about. My client informed me that her electric bill was more than $250.00/mth due to the electric heat. In addition, the seller who purchased the home in 2005 had an electrician check the home due to high electric bills. They found nothing, reason was they did not have a thermal camera, I do. My inspection found it and more important, it has been running 24/7 seven days a week...it's never off. Now fixed.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask for a current report minus the customer information, address and see what the inspector reports. Some sample reports on web sites are outdated and some are made to look good. Ask if you can follow them during the inspection and ask questions. Some inspectors do not, I encourage it.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Understand that a home purchase is possibly the largest purchase they will make and they must do the work in looking a lot of homes to understand market value. Some foreclosure homes cosmetically look bad. However, some are a good buy because the main costs i.e.:roof, heating, and windows could be in good shape.
