About
I specialize in portraiture and creative dance imagery. There is nothing more gratifying than capturing the natural expressions elicited in great conversation or the apex of an incredibly elegant dance movement. Working with two of the most organic forms of beauty (people & dance) is exciting, but more importantly fun and it is in my best efforts to make my clients feel the same. Uptight and overbearing are two things I am not and will never be. Capturing greats expressions goes beyond pointing and shooting. I never tell people to smile as more often than not they are fake. My goal in every session is becoming friends and getting to know the person in hopes of better understanding who they are as an individual. Once this happens, the rest comes easy. Meeting and interacting with new people as well as capturing genuine emotions; not forced smiles.

Ryan is very passionate with his work. It's both refreshing and encouraging for those of us who tend to shy away from being in front of a camera when the photographer themselves get incredibly excited after taking what they feel is a great shot. Any nervousness I had naturally faded away and I was more than satisfied with the results. I look forward to working with him again in the future.

Ryan Smith Visuals has spent two years now working with over 40 dancers photographing them for their competition dance photo shoot. After Ryan's first time with us last year myself, students and parents were more than excited to have him back again. He produces the most gorgeous quality images and knows how to get the best out of the dancer being captured. I can say that Ryan Smith Visuals is the best photographer we have worked with and I am more than happy to continue to give him our business.

Ryan was incredible to work with! His attention to detail and determination to capture the perfect shot are admirable. Before we even started shooting, Ryan took the time to get to know me even better and make me feel comfortable. His knowledge and photography experience are exceptional and I hope to work with him again in the future!

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Natural light and studio portraits, personal and corporate head-shots, creative dance, and competition photos for dance studios.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always be comfortable with who you choose to work with. There is a big difference between a good photographer and a good photographer who makes their clients feel welcomed and comfortable no matter what. Look for someone who has fun and clearly loves what they do.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

There is always more to a great photograph than you think. Many photographers, including myself, can and will spend a great deal of time perfecting the smallest details of an image.
