FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Building was always in my blood. As a child I was constantly dismantling and reconstructing things to see how they worked. While some parents might have viewed such behavior a compulsive abnormalty, mine nonetheless encouraged it. Later on durring a collegiate haze I discovered a fascination for simple design, always disecting the intricacies in search of more flawless solutions. As a young man of raw talent I experienced my parents dealing with a less than scrupulous contractor. I wondered how many other people he affected by his actions. So I vowed to myself that I would become the best at whatever it was that I decided to do. Conversely, I think the natural progression to design and construction chose me.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Kitchens, baths, and home office upgrades have always been strong sellers for us. Attic, basement, and garage conversions add strong value to any home. We like to concentrate our efforts incorporating a systems design approach to building. Resurrecting dead space, repurposing any existing space and only adding new space when we need to enhance the character and overall efficiency and functionality of what the original structure was intended to do. We subscribe to the theory of minimizing and managing a responsible low impact carbon footprint. Throughout the entire process our key motivation compells us to seek out optimum energy coefficients and impement them into the design. From our experience we've found that this strategy best utilizes a client's budget to yield the highest possible return on investment.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Get refs. Check your local BBB. Ask for a Portfolio of their work. Make sure their licensed and insured. Large cash deposits up front are a red flag. If any company cannot finance at least 30% of your project throughout any phase of it's duration then something is definitely wrong and you are within your boundaries as a consumer to inquire why. If they cannot offer you a legitimate answer well than there you have it. They're probably a cannot do company and you can eliminate them from your list of legitimate companies that can. Above all else, get as many quotes as you can but make sure you are comparing apples to apples so that you can make a more informed decision.
