Dane has been working with my son for over five years as his private saxophone teacher. Dane is pleasant, professional, and easy to communicate with. Dane is not only a skilled musician himself, but a gifted instructor. Even in the most well-regarded public school music programs, teachers have a large group of students and individual attention can be rare, which is what makes private lessons so important to anyone serious about an instrument. Dane has helped our son gain more confidence and their work together has been the secret ingredient that has helped him excel. Now approaching his junior year in high school, my son has been first chair in his school band, has a 98 in his Band Honors class and will continue to be in the high school marching band in the fall. We owe most of these achievements to his work with Dane and would recommend him highly to anyone looking for a private music instructor.

My son has taken piano lessons with Dane for over 5 years. He has not only become proficient in piano but has grown to really love music. Dane has consistently encouraged him to explore his varied musical interests from The Beatles to Minecraft themes. He always felt like Dane listened to him and provided encouraging and helpful feedback. We've been so grateful to have had Dane as a teacher all these years and recommend him highly.

My daughter has been taking private flute lesssons with Dane for close to 3 years both in person and virtual. I credit Dane for keeping her playing during covid. He kept her challenged, pushed her when needed, and made it fun for her. Dane’s tireless efforts have paid off and I have seen tremendous progress in her playing. When people ask her what makes her special or unque, she always mentions that she plays the flute. We owe alot of that to Dane in building her confidence in her music.

My son has been taking saxaphone lessons from Dane for about 3 years. Dane has a nice easy approachable way about him. As a result they have a wonderful rapport. John has learned so much so quickly, which has built his confidence and inspires him to practice on his own and continue lessons with Dane. Zoom didn't even get in the way, they didn't miss a beat! Dane is a true professional and private lessons with him is worth the investment. It doesn't hurt that he's pretty cool...kids love that in a teacher.

Dane has been inspirational for our 8-year-old son for the last 16 months of piano lessons. Dane regularly supports and reinforces positive messages about his progress and pays close attention to details that he needs to work on to help him improve. Dane is also very responsive to my questions outside of the lesson and welcomes feedback. I am a musician as well and do have a lot to say on the matter, for better or worse!

I’ve been working with both private students and after school programs as a music educator and director for over a decade.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I believe music and arts education is an important, yet often overlooked, part of all our lives. I first set out as part-time teacher in a small studio over a decade ago taking on students of all ages and abilities. As my teaching and professional playing careers developed, so did my understanding that giving back both strengthens and enriches our community.
