Introduction: My approach was to immerse the students in the German language. Therefore, the entire class was taught in German. I strongly encouraged my students to ask questions in German as well. When necessary, I quickly explain topics in English but directly returned to German to expose my students to as much of the language as possible. My approach involved call and response where my students would repeat the full sentence after me but had to substitute certain words within the sentence. This way, sentences would be repeated as many times as necessary for the class to learn it while also training vocabulary.
