Introduction: I specialize in collaborative multi-media non-fiction storytelling, and structural and line editing. I can clearly communicate complicated, esoteric material. I know how to guide individuals and groups to get things done. I have succeeded in diverse business, association, educational and private enterprise environments. Telling a good story that brings its chief characters to life by employing their vocabulary, sentence structure, and tone.

To whom it may concern During 35 years I have been working in various roles in the Integrated-Circuits industry. In Philips Electronics and NXP Semiconductors I was employed as a researcher, project leader, research department head for mixed-signal electronics, university relation manager and research fellow. Further tasks involved lecturing at the universities of Delft, Stanford and Twente, and serving as an honorary professor at the University of Leuven. I know Ms. Olstein from her role as an editor for the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Magazine. Within that role she took care of my reports in the Distinguished Lecturing program in the years 2008-2012. Moreover she helped organize these events, where often people on three continents were involved. From 2012 onwards we collaborated on columns for the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Magazine, appearing every quarter. Ms. Olstein was in that role responsible for discussing the column themes, editing and reformulating the text, scheduling, and preparing the text for printing. Together we have worked on a dozen of columns. Ms. Olstein showed some remarkable qualities during these collaborations. She has a very clear and precise communication style. I do not recall any misunderstanding or misinterpretation. Our discussions were to the point and efficient. She is very responsive, there were no delays, and she solved any issues in bringing the text to print. As a column editor Ms. Olstein has managed to transform my text designs in really smoothly readable pieces. When reading back, I was amazed about the way she had captured the essence of some highly specialized discussions and reformulated the text in an elegant style. Based on her performance I can attest to the fact that Ms. Katherine Olstein is a creative and highly capable editor and organizer. She is efficient and gets problems solved. She is certainly capable of addressing any challenge as an editor or content provider.

To Whom It May Concern: The IEEE is a professional organization that has a large number of volunteers (IEEE officers, Society officers, etc.) and full-time staff members, all of whom believe they are “in charge” of managing the IEEE. I was always amazed at Katherine’s ability to navigate through the morass of personalities that provides constant competing demands from many directions. Katherine is highly organized, flexible, resourceful and reliable, and able to deal efficiently with multiple concurrent tasks. She consistently managed to get the magazine to production on time, working with both staff and demanding authors. She was always in touch with the multitude of activities occurring within the Solid-State Circuits Society. If we were short of material for the magazine, she was consistently able to reach out to groups and individual members of the Society to find additional material. Katherine was indeed responsible for writing a significant portion of the magazine, and as one would suspect from her educational background, she is an outstanding writer with tremendous command of language. The Solid-State Circuits Magazine started as a newsletter, and the transition to a magazine would not have been successful without Katherine! Whenever I had contact with Katherine, she always provided new ideas and suggestions on how to improve the operation of the society and magazine. In addition to the magazine, visible evidence is today provided by the tremendous improvements she made in the SSCS website and in connecting the society with social media. Katherine was always a strong contributor to the SSCS, and I recommend her without reservation. She is greatly missed. Richard C. Jaeger Past President (2006-2007), IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Founder and Past Chair, SSCS Magazine Advisory Board Past Editor (1995-1998), IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits

I worked with Katherine for over 4 years through work at the IEEE, the largest technical organization in the world. She wrote hundreds of articles for the Solid-State Circuits Magazine. I've found her to be professional, responsive, hard-working, and a very capable author. She seeks out the stories and can work independent without significant direction or guidance. I can recommend her without any reservations - R. Jacob Baker.
